And the Journey Continues…

Taking forward the success of the 1st batch of Pankh Tech Smart Centre, this month saw the second batch graduating with flying colours.  All the 28 students graduated and got placed with retailers like Lifestyle, HyperCity and Max Fashion.

Here’s looking forward to the third batch, which commenced from 21st July and consists of 21 hearing impaired trainees, spreading their wings and flying to new heights

Pankh Graduation Ceremony at Vadodara

Pankh has fulfilled its promise that it made a couple of months back, when it launched its first program in the city, by not only fueling the dreams of our young friends but also guiding them to a better and brighter future.

Motivating and inspiring the 21 young trainees from the first batch of Vadodara chapter, which was initiated in partnership with Society for the Training & Vocational Rehabilitation of the Disabled (SEVATIRTH), Pankh organized a graduation ceremony where they gave away certificates to the students and encouraged them to step into the world which was awaiting them with opportunities. Speaking on the occasion, Mr BS Nagesh, founder PANKH said, "It gives me immense pride and pleasure to see how Pankh has spread its wings and has now become a catalyst in making these youth an inclusive part of society and specially retail industry. I would like to take this opportunity to salute the enthusiasm, determination and the zeal in our 'abled' friends, which only helps us fulfil our endeavor and also the various employers who have and are partnering with us to support their dreams."

While the present batch has already been placed with retailers like Cafe Coffee Day, HyperCity and Reliance, the second batch of 30 students are gearing up to start a new chapter in their life with the classes beginning from 22nd July. And this seems to be just the beginning as new retailers like Pantaloons, Reliance Fresh, More Megastore have already lined up to recruit the trainees from the next batch.

Reflecting on the success of the program, Mr Nagesh added," This year will see five more such trainings being held in partnership with SEVATIRTH which will train around 150 students and make them retail ready."

Adding to this, Purshottam Panchal, founder & Director Sevatirth said, " Along with Pankh, its our endeavor to provide dignity and respect to these people with disability by making them self sufficient and self reliant. We should not only make them feel inclusive in the society but help them lead a normal life."

Nimesh, a Deaf trainee present at the occasion shared his experience at Pankh and how it had made him more confident and groomed his personality. It was because of Pankh that he got an opportunity to work with CCD and he will now be able to fulfill his and family's dreams through this job.

Another trainee, Chetan remembered how his disability- he is orthopedically challenged- made him short tempered and irritable since he didn't know what to do with life. But now, he had a purpose and a tool to fulfill his dreams. Things have changed for him as both his family and friends respect him and he is all ready to support all of them financially with his salary.

"I Appreciate Your Gesture...Thank You!"

Have you seen an associate, hurt and bleeding but still standing on your doorstep with a smile on his face ready to help you resolve your problems?

An associate who saved a wedding by traveling 100 Km and overlooking his own accident so that he could deliver the suit to the groom by 9 PM ?

Such is the dedication where age, health and condition doesn’t dither one from his commitment to serve.

And these are just some examples from a plethora of 3500 entries we have received last year for TRRAIN RETAIL AWARDS.

TRRAIN Retail Awards judges the finest, excellent, enduring customer service story of retail associates in the industry. The award recognizes and rewards customer service excellence in retail (both modern and traditional), at an all India level and to create industry case studies and benchmarks for customer service excellence in retail in India.

Chabiraj Jaiswar , a 50 year old employee, who works tirelessly  in the sports section had gone to attend a complain of a customer who was unable to bring the cycle to the shop. While riding on the step of crowded bus to Powai, Jaiswar’s bag got caught in the mirror of a passing car and as a result he was pulled off from the bus and on the road. Bleeding profusely from the head, Chabiraj still continued on his journey, addressed the customer’s issue and reported back to work the next day.

Saleem Kuraishi , who received the call from the groom at 6 PM for a reception at 9 PM, not only traveled for 100 Km ( Jaipur to Sikar) by train and auto but also overlooked his own accident to deliver the suit on time. The auto, which Saleem was riding, met with an accident when a vehicle from opposite direction bashed into them. Bandaged all over and refuting the doctor’s advice to rest for a couple hours, Saleem displayed highest level of commitment and dedication.

With TRRAIN Retail Awards 2014 being scheduled for 12th December, here’s looking for more such motivating and inspiring stories of customer service this year too.

Watch out for TRRAIN RETAIL AWARDS updates!!

TRRAIN Foundation gears up for the Food Industry

Hygiene Alert for all the food outlets across the country!!! All food outlets, from small dhabas to five-star hotels, will soon be graded according to their level of food hygiene and cleanliness.

Keeping up with the international standards, where they have a holistic process of ensuring food safety, FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) will be coming up with standards to grade food outlets. They could be graded as stars or as levels. The focus will be to see that they maintain food hygiene and safety so that consumers can make a wiser choice. Apart from cleanliness at the place of cooking, the authority will also lay down guidelines for clean storage and transport facilities.

This could mean that a dhaba in your neighbourhood could be rated as level-1 , if cooking practices measure up to the minimum standards laid down by the authority, while a fine dining restaurant may end up getting the top billing. It is also possible for restaurants belonging to the same chain to get different ratings.

And also to ensure that consumers are aware of the hygiene practices being followed, outlets will also have to get, and display, a certificate issued by the authority displayed.

Keeping in tune with this new regulation and to support the food industry by ensuring that all outlets adhere to standards, TRRAIN Retail Education program has designed a new module catering to ‘food hygiene and safety norms’. This module details out segments like:

  • The four stages of cleaning, cooking, chilling and cross contamination
  • Food safety – how to protect the food from getting contaminated and also prevent food-borne illness from different types of food
  • Food handling while Preparing, Thawing, Cooking, Serving, Leftovers, Refreezing, Cold Storage and Storing
  • Personal hygiene
  • Introduction to HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points)
  • HACCP implementation and analysis
This training is suitable for Quick service restaurants, Food courts & food catering associates. We would love to hear from you.
